While George and Ira Gershwin had stellar careers as individuals, they will forever be remembered as the songwriting team whose voice was synonymous with the sounds and style of the Jazz Age. By the time of their 1924 Broadway hit, “Lady, Be Good!” which starred Fred and Adele Astaire, George had worked with lyricist Buddy DeSylva on a series of revues, The George White Scandals, while Ira had enjoyed several successful collaborations (including Two Little Girls in Blue with composer Vincent Youmans).
